The Larrakia Nation has Information Referral Offices (IRO) which provide user-pays services to Indigenous people who are living in or visiting Darwin from remote and interstate locations. This service provides people with high integrity photographic ID which allows access to ordinary services, such as Centrelink, banks, mail, housing, MVR and transport services.
The IRO provides these services without requiring cash upfront as our clients do not generally have access to credit or funds when there is an emergency. Our IRO services enable clients to manage their affairs more efficiently. The service is not free and clients typically pay off their accrued debt through gradual automatic Centrelink deductions set at affordable fortnightly amounts.
